About Hot Yoga 101 - A 3 Week Beginner Series: Adding
Hot Yoga to your life can make a significant impact on your overall
health. Hot Yoga 101 teaches the basics of Hot Yoga including:
breathing techniques, standing and floor poses, and the elements of
what makes a hot yoga practice unique. Hot Yoga 101 is an excellent
way to discover Hot Yoga and is recommended for students who feel that
they are “tight”, students who are new to heated yoga, or for current
Hot Yoga students who would like to revisit the basics of hot yoga.
This series is the perfect introduction for students from different
styles of yoga to learn the names of the poses and how to execute them
in this style of yoga. The studio is heated to 85-90 degrees to help
open the body and increase circulation. Expect to sweat!
What To Expect In Your First Class
For your first class at ASY please arrive twenty minutes early. This will
give you time to register, meet your instructor, ask questions and take a
short tour of the studio. Hydration is important so drink plenty of
water the day of your class. Some yoga postures squeeze and flush the
kidneys releasing toxins in your body. Water is needed to help flush
those toxins. It is equally important to drink water after class. During class you
will be sweating and drinking water will help your body more efficiently
replenish the fluid lost during class.
Yoga is best done on an empty stomach so try not to eat two to four hours
before class. If you must eat, eat food that is easily
digested.
Wear light, breathable clothing that you will be comfortable sweating
in and that will not restrict your movement. You will not need shoes
during class so make sure to take them off before entering the yoga
room.
Don’t push yourself too hard in class and don’t get frustrated as it
will only limit your growth. It takes time to learn postures and to get
used to the heat. Enjoying the experience is the best way to get the
full benefit of what Hot Yoga has to offer. Remember that consistent
practice is important and you will improve over time.
